It was on this date in country music history that something happened that had never been done before. It was in 1952 that for the first time in the Billboard Chart history, a female country artist was sitting on top of the charts. This groundbreaking achievement was done by the "Honky Tonk Angel" herself...Miss Kitty Wells.

Kitty Wells was the first lady to break down that door for so many others to follow through. I remember many years ago when she came to the old Cow Palace in Fort Collins and was one of the first big country stars I saw at a venue when I moved to Colorado.
