They're doing it across the pond, I don’t see why this can’t be done here. Men changing their lives for a month, to change their lives forever. Forget about growing facial hair for a month, how about abstaining from alcohol for all of January?

Movember is wildly popular; where men grow out their mustaches and/or beards for prostate cancer awareness. ‘Change your face to change men’s health’, is the motto.  As 2017 is getting ready to start, I suggest trying this motto out: ‘Balls to Cancer’Balls to Cancer is a charity organization in England, who help out families of men with cancer.  They are doing a fundraiser in January:  ‘Manuary’.  Where participants will be abstaining from alcohol for all of January.

Studies show that not drinking booze for four weeks will help with your blood pressure and cholesterol; while also reducing the risk of developing liver disease and diabetes. Plus, you'd probably lose some weight too. It definitely sounds beneficial, but will men take the ‘challenge?’ Tough call. Going 31 days without beer, for me, sounds very very hard. Tough call. Going 31 days without beer, for me, sounds very, very hard. But, after New Year’s Eve, there isn’t a lot happening in January; it’s not like people have big ‘Martin Luther King Day’ parties. The Super Bowl and my 50th birthday are in February, so that does make it seem easier to not drink at all in January.

The trouble I see with me taking this on? My brother’s birthday. It’s right in the middle of January; it seems highly unlikely that we’d celebrate his 47th and NOT have a beer unless I take on this challenge. I just don’t know if I can do it! Will you?

Now, there IS a ‘Manuary’ event in America, where men grow out their beards for Head and Neck Cancer awareness and fundraising. If you’d like to take part in that, I’m all for it!
