Loveland doesn't allow medical or recreational marijuana sales in the city, but soon that could change.

Tuesday, the City Council wants to know what you think, whether you are pro or against for the November ballot.

In 2012, Coloradans legalized recreational marijuana, but Loveland did not allow growth or sales in the city. In fact, in 2013 Loveland's city council banned marijuana.

The ban was almost lifted in 2016, and now there's another chance to lift the ban. The Loveland City Council is reopening the discussion and allowing a vote of residents.

There will be two readings on the issue: August 6 and August 20, which is why the issue is being discussed now.

Residents aren't the only ones with input though, the council wants to hear from city staff as well about regulations, licensing, and other things.

Government boards around Loveland (Berthoud, Fort Collins, Larimer County, and Longmont) allow marijuana sales. Though Longmont only allows medical and retail sales.

The issue will be brought to voters if council members deem necessary after the discussion at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at City Hall, 500 East Third Street.
