A threat of violence frightened students, parents, and faculty at the S.Christa McAuliffe STEM Academy in Greeley, Colorado.

At 10 p.m. on Oct. 1, the Greeley Police Department was made aware of a threat of violence on campus. The act of violence was supposed to take place on Monday, Oct. 2.

Quickly, the Greeley Police Department was able to identify the student behind the threats and detain them.

Here is a snippet of the statement from the Greeley Police Department.

At around 10pm last night, we began to receive reports of a threat of violence at the S. Christa McAuliffe STEM Academy, in Greeley. The threat stated the violence to the school was to take place today 10/02/23. Officers from our patrol and investigations unit immediately began an investigation. We identified and arrested a juvenile female in connection with those threats early this morning. That female, whose name and age we can’t release because of her age, was transported to a youth correctional facility and charged wjth interference with staff or faculty of educational, a misdemeanor, and falsely reporting explosives, weapons, or harmful substances, a felony.

According to the Greeley Police Department's Facebook page, the juvenile connected to the threats was sent to a youth correctional facility. Here are the charges.

  • Interference with staff or faculty of education.
  • Falsely reporting explosives, weapons, or harmful substances.

Greeley PD Says School Is Safe

On the post, the Greeley Police Department noted that it is safe for children to go back to school. Security was made aware of the threats. Additionally, the Greeley Police Department thanked parents, students, and staff for making them aware of the threats.
